Interview de Marine HEMART, Responsable du SPA Õ des Lauzes

In this interview, Marine Hemart, Manager of SPA Õ des Lauzes, which is entirely powered by thermal water, talks about her career path, the philosophy behind the establishment, and the reasons why they chose to work with TERRAKÉ.

Could you start by telling us about your background?
Coming from a background in aesthetics, I immediately started working at various resorts in Savoie. I quickly became responsible for the spa, and was notably involved in opening the spa. Aquamotion in Courchevel, then I was manager of the SPA des Neiges by Clarins at the Hotel Allodis in Méribel. Subsequently, in order to balance my professional and personal life, I stopped working seasonal jobs and became a spa practitioner trainer. It was only recently, almost a year ago, that I had the opportunity to take on the role of Manager of the SPA Õ des Lauzes. It was a great opportunity and a challenge because, even though the spa was running well before my arrival, it is ten years old and was starting to show its age. My ambition and mission was to give this space a facelift and breathe new life into it. To do this, we carried out some refurbishment work, of course, but we also revamped our treatment menu by selecting a new partner, TERRAKÉ.

What were you looking for in your new partner?
We were looking for something natural but more modern. We had previously used Phyt’s. We didn't necessarily want to work with a very well-known brand because we are surrounded by resorts with a number of luxury hotels featuring high-end spa brands. So we didn't want to compete with these establishments, as we don't have the same target market. We needed a brand with a young and dynamic image that would appeal to as many people as possible and, above all, be in line with our values of naturalness and respect for the environment.

How did TERRAKÉ meet these expectations?
We chose TERRAKÉ because it is a brand that is fully aligned with our values, particularly through its four body care ranges (Végétal Luxuriant, Eaux Premières, Terra Magica, and D’Air et de Lumière), which are inspired by nature. The name itself, “TERRAKÉ” (meaning earth and water in Greek), perfectly matched our concept, as we are a spa that is solely supplied with thermal water in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by nature. We were also drawn to the brand's sensory approach, which offers highly sensory and holistic experiences. TERRAKÉ brought the touch of modernity we were looking for through its packaging, visuals, and overall brand image. We needed a brand that could support us in all aspects of communication, that could provide us with tailor-made proposals with regular follow-up and support in order to build a long-term partnership and a relationship of trust, and that is what TERRAKÉ offers us today.

Can you tell us more about the philosophy behind this establishment and your goals for 2023?
The SPA Õ des Lauzes is known for being the largest spa in the region powered solely by thermal water. It is therefore an establishment that promotes nature and its benefits for natural beauty. However, we wanted to move away slightly from this image of thermalism by doing something a little more upmarket while continuing to highlight the benefits of our water. The SPA Õ des Lauzes aims to be a holistic spa in the sense that it promotes overall well-being through more comprehensive treatments than before. We now offer short stays with a primarily medical and relaxing approach for a pampering experience. Our services include naturopathic treatments, yoga, foot reflexology, osteopathy, massages, body wraps, and access to our new infrared sauna. With all these new facilities and offerings, since our reopening in December 2022, we have been hoping to attract a new, slightly younger and more dynamic clientele. Our goal is to make our establishment a place for everyday relaxation, where everyone can come to unwind and take time for themselves. Guests can enjoy the holistic and sensory aspects of TERRAKÉ treatments and the more therapeutic aspects of the spa facilities, which are supplied with thermal water in a natural setting in the heart of the mountains for a rejuvenating experience.
